Vignette for trailers, caravans and motorcycles
Last checked: 4 November 2026
In Switzerland the vignette is not only for cars. Every motor vehicle and every trailer with a total weight of up to 3.5 t needs its own vignette on motorways and expressways.
Trailers and caravans
- A trailer or caravan needs a vignette of its own – the towing vehicle’s vignette does not cover it.
- The e-vignette is registered for the trailer’s plate. When ordering, choose “Trailer” or “Caravan”.
- Exempt are motorcycle trailers and sidecars.
If both the towing vehicle and the trailer are driven without a vignette, the fine is due twice (see Fines without a vignette).
Motorcycles
Motorcycles need the vignette too – at the same price of CHF 40. This also applies to quads and trikes.
Motorhomes and vans
Motorhomes, minibuses and vans up to 3.5 t need the normal vignette. Vehicles over 3.5 t do not pay a vignette but the heavy vehicle charge (LSVA or PSVA). If a vignette was bought for such a vehicle by mistake, the vignette fee is refunded.
You can order the vignette online for the vehicle and the trailer with us – one order per licence plate.
