Swiss vignette price
The vignette fee is set by law and is the same for every vehicle: car, motorcycle, van, minibus, motorhome, trailer and caravan up to 3.5 t pay the same fee. There is only an annual vignette.
The vignette fee is CHF 40 (44.00 € in euro). The service fee is added on top and shown separately with every price.
Swiss e-vignette: validity
Switzerland has only the annual vignette; there are no short-term vignettes. It comes as an e-vignette and as a sticker; here you order the e-vignette, which is linked to the licence plate – nothing is stuck on the windscreen.
The vignette is valid for 14 months: from 1 December of the previous year to 31 January of the following year. Until the end of November you buy the current year’s vignette (valid until 31 January of the next year), from 1 December the next year’s. You see the exact end date before you buy. The e-vignette is valid as soon as it is bought.
Not included are the Great St Bernard tunnel, the Munt la Schera tunnel and the car trains (e.g. Lötschberg, Furka, Vereina): these are paid separately.
Before you travel to Switzerland
Before you travel, check that you carry your driving licence, vehicle registration certificate and proof of insurance. In Switzerland the warning triangle must be within reach in the vehicle. Winter tyres are not generally compulsory, but the vehicle must be equipped for the road conditions.
